Cycle Slough Cycle Hub Terms & Conditions


1. Summary of Membership

1.1 Membership provides access to The Cycle Hub, 11 Brunel Way, Slough, SL1 1XW.

1.2 Membership fees and access price can be found on the Cycle Hub website

1.3 Replacement membership cards will be charged at £5.00 each. Strictly one card will be issued per person.

2. Registration

2.1 To register as a member, you must:

2.1.1 Be aged 16 years or over (parental consent is required for members under the age of 18);

2.1.2 Ensure that all information provided in the registration process is accurate;

2.1.3 Agree to these terms and conditions.

2.2 Cycle Slough reserves the right to refuse membership.

3. Operation of Membership

3.1 Admission to the Cycle Hub is strictly limited to members holding a current and valid membership card.

3.2 Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions or misuse of the Cycle Hub may result in membership being terminated without any refund being given.

3.3 Membership will expire at the end of the term paid for unless membership is renewed.

3.3.1 In the event of membership expiry or cancellation, and if a bicycle remains within the Cycle Hub, this bicycle will be removed by Cycle Slough 7 days after membership expiry.

3.3.2 The cost of removal and storage of any unclaimed bicycles will be met by the owner at a charge of £20 per week. This charge must be paid by the owner before the bicycle can be released. If bicycles remain unclaimed after 6 months of storage, they will be sold to recover the costs

4. Access to Cycle Hub

4.1 An RFID card will be supplied to all members enabling entry to the Cycle Hub subject to registration fee - see 1.3.

4.2 The RFID card must be used to gain access to the Cycle Hub or presented when requested by any authorised official of Cycle Slough. Members are entitled to ask Cycle Slough staff for identification.

4.3 The RFID card will not be valid if damaged or defaced in any way. A replacement card must be requested by the member and will be subject to charges as per point 1.3. In the event that an RFID card is damaged through reasonable wear and tear, Cycle Slough reserves the right to waive the replacement fee at its sole discretion.

4.4 The RFID card shall be non-transferable and use of the card shall be restricted to the registered member only. Misuse of the card shall result in membership termination in accordance with point 3.2.
4.5 Members must notify Cycle Slough on 01895 832 662 between the hours of 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday providing any change of details.

5. Cancellation of Membership

5.1 Members wishing to cancel membership should contact Cycle Slough on 01895 832 662 between the hours of 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday.

5.2 One month notice is required to cancel membership.

5.3 In the event of cancellation of monthly or annual membership prior to the end of the term paid for in advance by the member, Cycle Slough will refund the difference but will retain 10% of that amount for administration fees.

5.4 RFID cards must be returned to Cycle Slough, Colne Valley Park Centre, Denham Court Drive, Denham, Uxbridge, UB9 5PG. Failure to return the RFID card within 28 days from cancellation of membership will result in a £5.00 charge to the member.

6. Cycle Hub Operating Hours

6.1 Access to the Cycle Hub is 24 hours. Cycle Slough reserves the right to vary the hours of operation at any time. Where reasonably practicable, any changes will be advertised in advance at the Cycle Hub and members will be notified by email.

6.2 In the event of a disruption, including but not limited to those caused by construction, equipment malfunction, damage, social disorder or force majeure event at or around the Cycle Hub, temporary closure of the Cycle Hub may be required on occasion.

6.3 Cycle Slough accepts no liability for journey delays, inconvenience, loss of income or additional expense incurred by members arising from the temporary closure of the Cycle Hub.

7. Using the Cycle Hub

7.1 Cycle parking facilities shall be available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Membership does not guarantee the availability of a cycle parking space within the Cycle Hub or locker facilities.

7.2 The Cycle Hub provides parking for standard pedal cycles only. Motorbikes and tandem bicycles cannot be accommodated.

7.3 The Cycle Hub is for storage of bicycles and cycle related items (such as helmets and bike lights) only. Members must ensure that any cycle related items are safely secured to the bicycle or stored in a locker. Members must also ensure that such items do not impede the use of the Cycle Hub for other users.

7.4 Members are not permitted under any circumstances to leave personal items or any cycle related items on the Cycle Hub floor or in communal areas. Any items left unattended shall be removed. It shall be the members’ responsibility to contact Cycle Slough within one month, after which time such items shall be disposed of.

7.5 Smoking is not permitted within the Cycle Hub.

7.6 Cycle locks are not provided and must be supplied by the member.

7.7 Misuse of the Cycle Hub may result in membership being terminated without refund. Terms of misuse are at the discretion of Cycle Slough.

8. Members Obligations

8.1 Members shall be responsible for:

8.1.1 The RFID card.

8.1.2 Properly securing the bicycle to a cycle rack using an appropriate lock to be supplied by the member.

8.1.3 Safe and correct use of the cycle parking racks as set out at 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3.

8.1.4 Ensuring that no damage, defacing or vandalism is caused to the Cycle Hub or any of the equipment or property in any way.

9. Safety and Security

9.1 Instructions for the safe use of the double decker racking are displayed at the Cycle hub, included in the membership welcome pack and training is available upon request from Cycle Slough. Members must ensure they have read and fully understand the instructions before operating the cycle rack.

9.2 Members must not exceed the manufacturer’s maximum load displayed on the cycle rack.

9.3 By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, members confirm that they understand how to operate the racking safely.

9.4 The Cycle Hub is used entirely at members’ own risk. Cycle Slough does not accept responsibility for injury, loss or damage to persons or equipment, howsoever arising.

9.5 While the Cycle Hub is a secure cycle parking facility, members are advised that for public safety, in the event of a power or mechanical failure the automatic doors are set to a default open position until repairs can be carried out.

9.6 Cycle Slough recommends the use of a D style lock, securing the frame and wheels.

9.7 Members are responsible for ensuring an appropriate level of insurance cover for their property, including the bicycle. It is recommended that members register bicycles on the UK National Property Register; the national police database of registered property ownership and stolen property records.
